Airdroidfy for macOS

Three-day trial, no sign-up and no card. After that, a US$ 29.99 licence — one purchase, good for two devices.

New Your Android tablet as a display for the Mac: extend or mirror the screen, by cable (no developer options) or over Wi-Fi, with touch working as a mouse. From Airdroidfy 0.2.0.

New Your Android camera as the Mac's webcam, over Wi-Fi: Google Meet, Zoom, FaceTime and any video app.

Requires macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. Apple Silicon (M1 or newer). Signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

Airdroidfy for Windows

The same app and the same licence: send and receive files, the Explorer context menu, mirroring the Android screen and controlling it.

New Your Android tablet as a display for the PC, over Wi-Fi: it mirrors the main screen or shows another of the PC's displays, with touch working as a mouse. From Airdroidfy 1.1.0 for Windows.

Requires Windows 11 (x64 or ARM64), not in S mode. One file for Intel, AMD and ARM — the installer picks the right one for your processor. No administrator password needed. The app is not digitally signed: see what Windows shows the first time.

How to install on the Mac

  1. Open the Airdroidfy.dmg file you downloaded.
  2. Drag Airdroidfy into your Applications folder.
  3. Open the app. Its icon appears in the menu bar, top right — there is no Dock icon and no main window.

The first time, macOS asks whether Airdroidfy may find devices on your local network. Without that permission the app cannot find your phone: it is what makes discovery work, and it is the only thing the app does on the network.

How to install on Windows

  1. Open the Airdroidfy-Setup.exe you downloaded and click Next through to Finish.
  2. Leave Start Airdroidfy with Windows ticked. This is a tray app: without it, after a reboot the phone will not find the PC until someone opens the app by hand.
  3. The icon appears in the system tray, near the clock. Click it to pair with your phone.

The first time, Windows asks whether Airdroidfy may talk on the private network. Say yes: that permission is how the phone finds the PC. On a public network the app does not announce itself, by design.

If a blue screen says "Windows protected your PC". That is SmartScreen. Airdroidfy for Windows is not digitally signed, and SmartScreen shows this for every unsigned program that has not been downloaded by many people yet — it is not a virus warning. Click More info and then Run anyway.

If Windows blocks it without offering "Run anyway". That is Smart App Control, which may be on in fresh installs of Windows 11. It blocks every unsigned program and makes no exception for a single one. To use Airdroidfy on that PC, you need to turn it off in Windows Security › App & browser control › Smart App Control settings (the names may vary a little between versions). On the newest versions of Windows 11 you can turn it back on later in the same place; on older ones, it only comes back by reinstalling Windows. If you would rather not turn it off, Airdroidfy for Windows will not run on that PC for now.

The install is yours, not the computer's: it goes into your user folder and asks for no administrator password. To uninstall, use Installed apps in Windows Settings.

The full walkthrough covers pairing with your phone and what to do when one device can't see the other.

The phone app

It is free, on Android and on iPhone. Both devices need to be on the same network — your home Wi-Fi is enough, and no cable or cloud is involved.

Android — Google Play iPhone — App Store

Android 14 or newer; iOS 17 or newer. On iPhone the app sends and receives files — screen mirroring and remote control are Android only, which is what that system allows, and the camera as a webcam is Android's too. The mirror can be watched from either the Mac or Windows; the camera, for now, only on the Mac.

To use your tablet as a display for the Mac: Android 14 or newer with app 1.1.0 or newer, Airdroidfy 0.2.0 or newer on the Mac, and a USB data cable plugged straight into the Mac — or both on the same Wi-Fi. This is the only feature that can use a cable, and it is optional. As a display for the PC: the same Android, Airdroidfy 1.1.0 or newer on Windows, and both on the same Wi-Fi.

Quick questions

Do I need an account? No. There is no sign-up, neither for the trial nor after buying — the licence is a key that arrives by email.

Does it work without internet? Yes. Transfers go straight between the two devices over your local network. The app only talks to the internet once, when activating the licence.

Can I use it on a Mac and on Windows? Yes. The licence is good for two devices, in any combination — two Macs, two PCs, or one of each. Same key on both.

I am changing computers. In Settings on the old one, use Deactivate this Mac (or Deactivate this PC). That frees the seat immediately, and you activate the new machine with the same key.

Do I need developer options to use the tablet as a display? No. By cable, the Mac talks to the tablet as a USB accessory, with no developer options and no USB debugging. The first time it takes three taps; after that, you just plug in the cable.

Does the display cost extra? No. It is part of Airdroidfy and included in the same licence — and in the three-day trial.

Does the display work on Windows? Yes, from Airdroidfy 1.1.0 for Windows, over Wi-Fi: the tablet mirrors the PC's main screen or shows another of its displays — with an HDMI dummy plug, that extends the desktop. By cable, for now, only on the Mac, and it doesn't work on an Intel Mac. More questions about the display.

I lost my key

Enter the email address you used to buy. We send a new key to it — and the previous one stops working the moment we do.

Why a new key and not the same one? Because we do not store your key — only a fingerprint of it. That is what keeps a breach of our database from turning into a pile of usable licences. The Mac you already activated is unaffected: it keeps working with what it has.
